The League’s One-Act Play Contest, founded in 1927, is the major high train play production contest or play festival in the world. More than 14,000 Texas high teach students in more than 1,000 theater participate in 300 boon contests, which take place from the opening of March through the three-day, 40-production State Meet One-Act Play Contest. The One-Act Play Contest is supported by more than 200 academy and university faculty members portion as critic judges. The League’s theatre historians considered agenda to be the foundation of educational and part theatre in Texas. It continues to be a major cause motivating increasing records of schools to proposal theatre arts as an academic topic.

The UIL One-Act Play contest is a competition where also sized Texas schools give an 18-40 detailed play regularly adjudicated by a specific assess. WHS One Act Play Advanced to UIL One Act Play Regional Competition

The Waller High School Box of Stars Theatre students performed in UIL One Act Play Zone Competition that was seized on Thursday, March 27th. Waller High School was one of two advancing shows from the Zone Contest. Every free cast organ from Waller High School went home endearing a reward. Best Crew from Waller High School went to Logyn LeBlanc, Janel Villatoro, Shaela Stautmeister, Emily Poore; Best Technician--Logyn LeBlanc; Honorable Mention All Star Cast--Barry Jackson; All Star Cast--Dean Guerra and "The Chorus"—Austin Cooke, Amanda Parmer, Cody Hoeppner, Kourtney Hudson, Kris McInnis, Steffany Velasquez, and Nichole Stubblefield; Best Actor--Shelbie Watts.

The UIL One Act Play District Competition was seized on April 2 at Magnolia High School. The results from the District Contest are as follow: Advancing to Area Champions—Waller High School and Magnolia High School; Individual Winners—All Star Cast—Dean Guerra, Shelbie Watts, Barry Jackson; Honorable Mention All Star Cast—Austin Cooke, Amanda Parmer; Best Technician—Logyn LeBlanc.

The One Act Play competed again on Thursday, April 9, at Brenham High School, at the UIL One Act Play Area Competition. Honors went to Best Technician – Logyn LeBlanc; Best Crew -- Logyn LeBlanc, Janel Villatoro, Shaela Stautmeister, Emily Poore; All Star Honorable Mention – Dean Guerra, Shelbie Watts, Barry Jackson; Honorable Mention – Amanda Parmer.

The Box of Stars Theatre panel ultimately advanced to UIL One Act Play Regional Competition pleasing many honors. Best Technician – Logyn LeBlanc; Best Crew -- Logyn LeBlanc, Janel Villatoro, Shaela Stautmeister, Emily Poore; All Star Honorable Mention – Shelbie Watts; and Honorable Mention – Dean Guerra.

An elite recognition is unlimited to the Show Directors, Waller High School Fine Arts Teachers, Carrie Wood and Amy Wernig, for primary the students to win their achievements. Congratulations to the Waller High School Box of Stars Theatre students on an outstanding year!

SSHS drama students expand to question contesting in UIL One-Act Play

Sulphur Springs was one of two high schools lend to the field One-Act Play Contest, which will be held April 11, following the District One-Act Play contest held Tuesday at Texarkana College.

Blaine Surber and Brandon Fain were both named to the Honorable Mention All-Star Cast, and Brittney Woolley and Cole Cable were named to the, All-Star Cast. Morgan Lutz, stage manager, standard the tech verdict for Sulphur Springs.

SSHS and Longview Pine Tree High School each were named to enhance to the corner contest in Whitehouse in two weeks based on their performances Tuesday.

“They have worked so very hard and it shows," said SSHS UIL Coordinator Gina Wilder. "The play is excellent. The critic thought unfilled some suggestions on improving it promote, and I'm excited to see it at the area competition. I would hearten everybody to make the slip to Whitehouse to bolster our play. They will be cheerful they made the plunge!”

SSHS performed "Scenes from Alice in Wonderland," a play produced by the Manhattan Project and directed by theater instructor Dawn Doyle.

The cast includes Brittney Woolley, Cole Cable, Josh Bain, Jake Moreland, Kelsey Brown, Cooper Welch, Cody Morgan, Kristin Ramsey, Slaine Surber, Brandon Fain, Tiffany Stenger, Parey Draper, Caleb Brown, Travis Hicks and Anna Longino. The crew consists of Morgan Luta, Stephen Kramer, Jessica Cowley and Cassie Long. Alternates are Alissa Welch, Skyler Sinclair, Cecily Adams and Ashlyn Landers
